Aidan’s Monsters
While browsing through my twitter time line and glancing over the daily fix of shameless rap promotions, self involved nonsense & over all trivial banter, I came across a tweet that particularly caught my eye. One of my followers posted ” 5 year old Leukemia patient Aidan is selling his art work to pay for medical bills” . At first I was a tad bit skeptical as the number of online sob stories and money making scams come dime a dozen & I’ve become a little weary of donating money since I found out Wyclef was using my Haiti relief funds to buy himself pina colsdas & a brand new steal drum.
Upon further research I found out that little 5 year old Aidan was in fact battling a life threatening disease & preparing for 3 more years of intense chemo therapy. When I found out that this brave young man was passing his days drawing the monsters and creatures that live in his imagination my heart immediately shattered. When I read that his family (upon his request) were selling his pictures (via etsy) to help pay for his ever growing medical bills I was moved to tears. Art & love have the power to do a lot of things, in the case of young Aidan it’s probably helping him heal and stay alive.
I seriously urge every & any of my listeners, friends, family members or followers to check out these wildly vivid & wonderful creatures. Aidan is selling originals & prints of his works for next to nothing. By purchasing one you are not only supporting a young talented art goon, you are helping save this kids life.
